Find a challenge. Create a good, efficient and cost-effective solution. Repeat. This is the maxim of Gene Haas, industrialist, machinist, engineer and philanthropist, who founded Haas Automation and built it into one of the largest, most modern machine tool manufacturing operations in the United States.
As his business and passion for machine technology and manufacturing grew, Haas quickly realized that passion produced excellence and excellence produced huge success.
As the shortage of skilled workers continues to rise, many in the business community are getting involved to promote education of trade and technology. Established in 2016, the Gene Haas Foundation seeks to introduce students to careers in machine technology and manufacturing by offering scholarships to provide not only financial assistance, but also passion for the career. Arkansas State University Mid-South was recently a recipient of a grant that puts Gene Haas’ money where his mouth is. The Gene Haas Foundation made a $15,000 grant donation to ASU Mid-South directed toward students who are on a machining pathway with preference given to students who have completed two years in the ASU Mid-South Secondary Technical Center.
Working with like-minded organizations like National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) and SkillsUSA, The Gene Haas Foundation supports and rewards students who are leaders in their field, are passionate and are willing to strive for excellence to succeed in manufacturing careers.
ASU Mid-South is proud to be a training partner in the Delta with the Gene Haas Foundation.
