Arkansas State University Mid-South is seeking a highly motivated and skilled professional to serve as the Coordinator of Community and Campus Engagement. This position, which reports to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Effectiveness, is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that advance and support the College’s mission, goals, and image with key external and internal stakeholders. Primary responsibilities include all aspects of community and campus engagement, as well as support of the institution’s advancement strategies. The ideal candidate is a creative, articulate, detail-oriented multi-tasker, who is active and involved in the community.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Community Engagement
• Serve as a liaison between the college and the community by representing the college at external functions and engaging the community at internal events.
• Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external constituents to ensure effective planning, organization, management, and quality branding on college-related activities and events held off-campus.
• Assess needs and interests of the community and develop/deliver meaningful community education programming.
• Participate in area community meetings, chambers of commerce, and other key associations and partner meetings, representing the college’s interests and sharing information to enhance the college’s image in the community.
• Assist in the development and implementation of a community relations plan to engage community groups and key stakeholders in college and campus issues or changes that are of interest and that may impact them.
• Facilitate community relationships with community groups and non-profit organizations to advance the mission of the college within the community.
2. Campus Engagement
• Support a growth-based, quality-focused departmental plan which promotes the College’s mission and strategic goals.
• Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external constituents to ensure effective planning, organization, management, and quality branding on college-related activities and events held on-campus.
• Develop and implement strategies to encourage and support the engagement of students, faculty, and staff.
• Participate in college committees and activities.
3. Advancement Support
• Identify and help to cultivate potential corporate and private sponsors, partners, advertisers, and donors for Foundation supported events and programs, such as the Goldsby Wild Game Dinner, SkillsUSA, Greyhound Athletics, and Student Scholarships.
• Assist in the creation and implementation of comprehensive fundraising goals and measurable objectives which directly advance the College’s mission, strategic goals and vision.
• Write, edit, and/or produce quality communications, such as proposals and sponsorship requests.
• Attend and support Foundation Board Meetings and events.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) from an accredited college/university, preferably in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field;
· Outstanding written and oral communication and organizational skills;
· Experience working in a non-profit organization, preferably in higher education, or in a relationship sales environment;
· One to three years of effective fundraising and/or successful small-scale (50 people or less) and large-scale (200 people or more) event experience;
· Demonstrated ability to project manage, including engaging and working well with volunteers;
· Proficient technology skills in Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
· Demonstrated experience in customer service/outreach and in developing and sustaining successful partnerships;
· Demonstrated ability to assess needs and implement strategies to meet those needs.
Salary: $55,000 with competitive benefits package available including retirement; health, life, dental & disability insurance; and educational discounts for employee and family.
