At ASU Mid-South, you’ll find multiple pathways to launch your nursing career—starting with foundational coursework and leading to registered nursing (RN) programs. These seamless pathways connect you to top nursing programs, providing the academic foundation and career support you need to succeed.

STEP ONE: Select your degree pathway

Associate of Applied Science in
Health Studies

skills-based, employment track includes C.N.A, Phlebotomy, and Medical Billing and Coding or Emergency Medical Responder

Associate of Science in
Health Studies

transfer track, includes more science and general education courses

STEP TWO: Register for Classes

Follow your degree plan and your advisor’s guidance when enrolling in courses.

Start with these courses:

  • English Composition 1
  • Anatomy and Physiology 1
  • College Algebra

Maintain a GPA of at least 2.0*, with a 3.0 required for most options.

STEP TWO: Register for Classes

Complete your Associate of Science in Health Studies at ASU Mid-South.

STEP THREE: Apply to A-State Nursing (RN) Program

Applications due in September of each year
Learn more about A-State’s Nursing (RN) program.

  • Complete Associate of Applied Science in Nursing with Arkansas State University
  • In-person classes hosted on ASU Mid-South campus
  • Continue your education online and obtain your BSN with Arkansas State University

STEP THREE: Apply to UTHSC BSN program

UTHSC Partnership Enrollment Program Overview

  • Sign intent to Enroll within one year of ASU Mid-South graduation guaranteed enrollment with 3.0 GPA*
  • Continue your education and complete your BSN with UTHSC

*2.67 required for science courses
