This course will utilize software that works with the Allen Bradley VFD Powerflex for hands-on training. The variable frequency drive basics taught are the same for all VFDs regardless of brand. Students will learn Allen Bradley VFD Powerflex 525, requiring user to go through task, step by step including lockout procedures for safety. The VFD class includes the following units of instruction; AC Motor Basics (introduction to various types of AC motors. Students will gain an understanding terms voltage, speed, slip, power factor, torque, and various motor starting methods), VFD Start-up, Soft Starter working principle, Drive software start, and Troubleshooting VFD Drives, configuring the VFD through the use of the HMI (Human Machine Interface) as well as using Connected Components Workbench. Also includes an introduction to Allen-Bradley PanelView Plus operator interface configuration and complementary ControlLogix programming, using FTView, Studio5000 and RSLinx, Final Exam, Labroratory Manual and Certificate of Completion.
