The ASU Mid-South student population is strongly affected by work schedules and family responsibilities and increasingly turns to online instruction for flexibility in attaining their educational goals. The Title III Strengthening Institutions initiative is responsive to students’ needs for more flexible scheduling and reduced time to completion. As a result, ASU Mid-South is significantly increasing the number of online courses and degrees, including accelerated online courses which can be completed in less time. Online degrees which are in development are the AAS Degree in Business Administration, the AS Degree in Education, and a new AAS Degree in Computer Programming.
Title III Strengthening Institutions funding has also supported the integration of a variety of resources designed to increase student retention and success, including Starfish, TutorMe, EMSI Career Coach, GradReady, and a 24/7 IT Help Desk. Using these services, ASU Mid-South is better able to monitor student progress, provide around-the-clock academic support to students on and off campus, assist students in determining career interests and connect them with related programs and regional labor market information, and provide opportunities for students to increase financial literacy.
